If treated well, silk can last forever, but it is also delicate. For this reason we recommend always dry cleaning, it is the safest method. There is the possibility of washing silk at home but if the water you use is acidic for some reason the colors could change, little by little. Acid rain could also leave stains. In short, dry clean the silk and don't wear it in the rain and your great-grandchildren will surely be able to use the scarf you use today.
